About this property

Greystone is a unique, custom-built mountain retreat nestled in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Enjoy incredible private views of the canyon, framing a magnificent rock formation, local wildlife, and a forest of wild evergreens. Bring the whole crew! Greystone has plenty of room for friends and family. The main cabin hosts 2 Master Suites, one with a fireplace, and a Jack and Jill bathroom between two other bedrooms. The kids are sure to love the cool bunk room with 8 bunks, each with their own light and charging station. The downstairs features another living room with a smart TV, custom wet bar, hot tub, a large bathroom with an extra shower. This secluded, newly-constructed property is a study in detail featuring 20’ ceilings, timber beam construction, infinity floors, hand-hewn doors, an Edison bulb chandelier, floating staircase, underground mining-inspired tunnel, and century-old salvaged wood. Each wall is lovingly adorned with custom heat-treated metals, birch branches sourced from the property, and rescued woods from the Midwest – there’s not an inch of plain ol’ sheetrock visible on any wall. It’s complete with wood-burning fireplaces and a hot tub with a glorious view for an unforgettable stay! There’s nothing else like it! **AVAILABLE FOR ADDITIONAL NIGHTLY FEE** Hideout - Connected to the main cabin by an awe-inspiring underground tunnel, this is an additional full living quarters complete with a kitchen, dining area, living room, daybed, 2 bedrooms, and bathroom. It comes with an additional one-stall garage parking and half bath. Contact us upon booking to add this on! Check-in is contactless and simple. Greystone is located a short 5 minutes from Terry Peak Ski Lodge, 15 minutes from historic Deadwood, and an hour from Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, and Custer State Park. It’s an ideal gathering space for family vacations, holidays, retreats, reunions, weddings, or just to get away. There is an attached two-car garage, plenty of additional parking including room for trailers, and in-floor heat in the mud room. An RV hookup is available at an additional fee. The owners at Trailhound Cabin Co. are always available via text or phone call. While texting is the quickest way to get ahold of us, we do respond to phone calls as well! Thanks! This is a secluded, private location on ten acres of land without a neighbor in sight. You’re welcome to explore and enjoy the entire property. We recommend four-wheel drive vehicles from October through April, as there are 2 miles of gravel road. Please use care and drive slowly. Our favorite place to stay for a large family gathering. Enough privacy for each family/couple but also enough space to play games, gather and eat! Lots of fun! Young people love the basement, hot tub and bunk bed room. Beautiful area.

Very beautiful views. Floor to ceiling windows were a highlight. Plenty of room for our multi family reunion. Built some great memories this weekend.

We had a great stay at the mine shaft house. An absolutely stunning house that was very accommodating for a large group. We used it for guests at our small wedding and everyone absolutely loved it! The hosts were willing to answer any questions and had lots of helpful tips for getting to the location, as it is definitely secluded. There was lots of wildlife on the property and everything in the house was as listed. We definitely would recommend this property to anyone thinking about it!!

This place was wonderful! We rented the extra hideout and it fit our family our family of 25 perfectly and still felt roomy. Beautiful location and incredible home! Host was really helpful and responsive. Would 100% recommend for large parties coming to the Black Hills!

This home was a very beautiful place to take our 5 children with their families. We did rent the Hideout also, which was a welcome surprise. One of the families has a gluten intolerance, so they were able to use the kitchen in Hideout for their food preparation. The full home gave us much space to separate if needed and the gathering area with Kitchen and Living room was large enough for everyone. The outdoor patios were a wonderful place to enjoy coffee or gather in evening. Great views. The instructions to get to the place were very clear, since it was a bit out of the way. I do have to say the road for the last mile was a bit rough. Our only disappoint was the large garbage container that was overflowing. We had no where to add our garbage. We did contact Trailhound with situation. We were informed to put our garbage in the garage. The problem with the overflow caused animals in area to get to it. We had to pick up bags of garbage when we returned from town. Loved home.
