How’s the Weather in the Black Hills in September?

September brings a mix of temperatures, so it’s best to pack layers to accommodate varying conditions. While sandals are still a good choice, it’s also smart to pack warmer footwear for outdoor activities. Also consider clothing like long-sleeved shirts, light jackets or sweaters for cooler evenings, and comfortable pants. Snow is unlikely, though we’ve seen frost in the higher elevations like Silver City. Also, the higher elevation can cause elevation sickness in some people, so we recommend scheduling some R&R for your first day here and drinking lots of water.
